Ignition

The first step to tuning your Bullet is to fine tune the fuel to air mixture that the engine receives. With carburettor models this is fairly easy but with the EFI models it is all controlled by a factory set “ECU” (engine control unit). Even with a standard engine we have found that the mixture ratio is not always perfect and can not be adjusted. In conjunction with Dynojet UK we have developed a “Power Commander 5 System”. This works by piggy backing the existing ECU which makes changes to the existing settings to deliver the optimum ratio of fuel and air at any given throttle position and engine revs. Whilst this can offer some improvements on a standard model, it is essential when tuning the engine with different silencers and air filters etc. Dyno figures show that we have gained approximately 20% increase in BHP at the rear wheel coupled with a smoother power curve by using a different air filter and silencer.

OXYGEN SENSOR BLANKING BOLT (Part Number: 91008A) If you have fitted the Dynojet Power Commander you will need to disconnect the oxygen sensor in the exhaust pipe. This stainless steel polished domed bolt can be used to blank off the hole that is left exposed when you remove the sensor.

This TCI unit replaces the standard part on the Electra X models. It gives improved timing and noticeably cleaner and better performance both on the road and dyno. It is supplied complete with its own fixing bracket (which allows it to fit neatly next to the side of the battery) and electrical connections but will require the standard wiring harness to be extended.

This Eureka electronic ignition is the one that is fitted as standard by the factory to some later Indian built Bullets. It is not as sophisticated as the Boyer kits as it still retains the mechanical advance/retard mechanism. It replaces the points and condenser and is easy to wire in.

ELECTRONIC IGNITION—This kit allows the replacement of the old fashioned points with a modern electronic version. Made by Boyer Bransden you can fit and forget. No more worn out points, condenser, advance unit or distributor bushes. Simple to fit, it comes with full instructions. As well as the kit for Redditch Bullets we offer 2 other systems, the standard kit, with the introduction of the new MK4 works well for both 350 and 500cc. The digital kit has an improved advance curve which is more beneficial for the 500cc.

Note 1: The introduction of the updated MK4 kit in 2009 has vastly improved the previous problems associated with low voltage due to poor batteries or charging system. If you have the MK3 ignition you can up rate your ignition with just the ignition box,Part Number: 200001A.

This electronic ignition kit has been developed for competition use or for those running a twin plug system in their Bullet on the road. Simple to fit, it comes with 2 coils and instructions.

This is the ultimate electronic ignition kit, developed on our own competition Bullets. It fits in place of the standard alternator and removes the need for the distributor and associated timing pinions. It is driven straight from the crank, therefore, timing is accurate and reliable. It is self generating so no battery is required. Available for single or twin plugs. Simple to fit, it comes with 2 coils and instructions.

Note: These systems are not suitable for road use.

Worn out or weak springs can play havoc with the advancing of your ignition timing and can cause pinking. These are an English made replacement.

Note: These are sold individually (order 2 per bike).

The standard iron bushes, on the early Indian built Bullets, can wear out quickly causing excessive play in the shaft and causing erratic timing. These are phosphor bronze bushes from the later models.

The distributors fitted to the early Indian built Bullets (which use bushes on the shaft instead of bearings) can suffer from excessive end float allowing the points plate and condenser to become damaged. These shims can be fitted between the distributor and the drive pinion to prevent this. They are 0.3mm (0.012") thick, more than one can be fitted if required.

These are the standard contact breaker points and condensers for the INDIAN Bullet.

A ready made, easy to use kit to allow accurate strobing of a Bullets timing. It includes all bolt on parts and saves messing around with bits of wire and poor fitting timing discs.

This superb cap is a direct replacement for the plastic cap fitted to most Indian Enfields. It is made from high quality alloy. It is highly polished and has the letters "RE" machined in to the top. The letters are left unpainted to allow you to paint them the colour of your choice.

This cast alloy cap is similar to 200007. It is made in India, and has the Royal Enfield name cast in to the end along with the manufacturer's trade mark. It is finished in chrome with red enamelled lettering

This is the standard cover that is now fitted to the latest Bullets. It is a high quality plastic finished in chrome. The name "Royal Enfield" is finished in black.

This rubber cover fits directly over the standard cap and it has the name "Royal Enfield" moulded into the top of it. It helps to keep water out of the all important points and gives you bullet that personalised touch.

If you have stripped the thread that holds the contact plate in your Bullet's distributor, then this kit is the answer. It is supplied with an oversize tap with guide and 2 special replacement nuts. It is an easy repair for the home mechanic and can be carried out with the distributor in place.

NGK resistor type (standard).

Old fashioned rubber spark plug cap without resistor, suitable for magneto ignitions.

We can supply a range of NGK spark plugs. Grades specifically recommended for Bullets are indicated.

We can supply a range of Champion spark plugs. Grades specifically recommended for Bullets are indicated.

We can also supply the Iridium spark plugs which offer a more efficient spark and therefore a better performing and more economical engine. These spark plugs have a much greater life span than the standard version.

Note: The gap on this type of plug is pre-set and should NOT be changed.

This is a plastic case to protect a spare spark plug whilst in your toolbox.

This is the standard Lucas made coil as used on most Redditch or Indian made models.
