4 SPEED RIGHT SHIFT CONVERSION

Some export 4 speed models have the gear shift on the left hand side which is all connected via a very poor linkage and bush assembly. This kit brings it back to the conventional right hand side (1 up 3 down) and is supplied with all parts needed including the brake parts for the left hand side.

After 4 years in development we can now supply the long awaited English made 5 speed gearbox. This has been designed to look like the old 4 speed box but has an entirely revised set of gears and selector assembly.
This has been proven and developed in competition and on the road. Whilst the Indian made 5 speed gearbox is a big step forward over the older 4 speed models, the new gearbox takes this much further. The ease of the gear change is something that would be expected on a modern Japanese bike. It has been one of our hardest and longest developments but one where the final result far exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately even though we have written off all our development costs on this gearbox, the manufacture of such a quality item in small batches is not cheap!
We have road and competition ratios available in a 1up 4down format, please see the chart which compares them to the standard internal ratios of the original 4 speed gearbox.
Important Note 1: Unlike the Indian 5 speed boxes, this box will also fit the Royal Enfield Twins..
Important Note 2: This gearbox is a staight replacement for any Enfield (Reditch or Indian made) 4 speed gearbox. It is also a suitable replacement for the Indian made 5 speed gearboxes however, please contact us as we will require additional information on the configuation of your bike.

5 SPEED RIGHT SHIFT CONVERSION

This kit converts the standard 5 speed left foot gear change to the traditional Bullet right foot change and at the same time giving the 1 up 4 down pattern (we can also suppy 1 down 4 up which does not require the cam plate). It includes all the necessary parts including a new machined outer cover, cam plate, gear change shaft, brake pedal, bungs etc.
Note: The neutral warning light will be lost in this conversion.

MODIFIED 5 SPEED GEARBOX (STANDARD, INDIAN MADE)

This is the gearbox which is fitted as standard to the new 5 speed Bullets. We have converted this gearbox to a right foot gear change and have modified the internals to give the conventional 1 up 4 down gear change (we can also offer 1 down 4 up). We can now offer this gearbox kit to fit any of the earlier Bullets, whether English or Indian. We have tested this gearbox since 2003 and have put it through its paces on the road and track. With its completely new design, it has performed superbly. It has vastly improved rideability and performance over the old 4 speed models. It comes complete with new style clutch centre, clutch cable, gear and kickstart lever etc.
Note: If you have the early Magura levers please select the appropriate Part Number.
4 Speed ratios: 1st = 2.78:1, 2nd = 1.84:1, 3rd = 1.36:1, 4th = 1:1.
5 Speed ratios: 1st = 3.06:1, 2nd = 2.01:1, 3rd = 1.52:1, 4th = 1.21:1, 5th = 1:1 .

GEARBOX SPROCKETS
Various sizes between 13 and 22 teeth to suit all applications. Indian and English made.
Most standard Bullets are happy with the gearing being raised by one tooth on the gearbox sprocket. Normally without extra engine power, any more than this will result in worse average speeds as the engine cannot pull the higher gearing.

This pair of English made gears raises the 1st, 2nd and 3rd ratios, reducing the gap between 3rd and 4th. Ideal for road or track use. Getting the gearing correct is one of the first steps to tuning your Bullet.
Suitable for 4 speed Bullets from 1959 onwards.
Standard ratios: 1st = 2.78:1, 2nd = 1.84:1, 3rd = 1.36:1, 4th = 1:1.
New ratios: 1st = 2.50:1, 2nd = 1.66:1, 3rd = 1.23:1, 4th = 1.:1.

This pair of gears lowers the 1st, 2nd and 3rd ratios, keeping 4th gear the same. This is ideal for green lane use, giving the benefit of low gearing, yet keeping a high top gear for the road.

This kit includes 2 sealed European gearbox bearings and all of the gaskets and seals needed for the gearbox. By fitting these bearings, the gearbox is sealed better allowing you the choice of running with only oil instead of the standard requirement of grease and oil.

GEARBOX END COVER

The 4 speed gearbox end cover fitted to the modern Bullets can suffer from flexing when the clutch lever is pulled in resulting in the loss of clutch lift. We have produced a replacement CNC machined English made cover which removes this flexing and allows full movement of the clutch.

This little kit is everything needed to replace the fragile kickstart pawl fitted to the 4 and 5 speed Bullets. It uses the latest pawl which is an improved material over the early models. Also included is the plunger and spring, gasket, o ring and tab washer (4 speed models only).

GEARBOX COVER STRENGTHENER (4-SPEED)

A kit that bolts to the inner gearbox cover and then to the outer cover utilising the hole for the neutral lever stop bolt. It requires drilling out the thread in the hole in the outer cover used by the existing stop bolt. Once done it will prevent the outer cover flexing during clutch operation, leaving the outside still looking original. A reasonably priced solution to a common problem.

5 SPEED IMPROVED CLUTCH RELEASE KIT

5 speed models manufactured before 2007 can suffer from broken clutch cables. This is the latest gearbox cover which has the cable entry modified by just a few degrees. It is supplied with the associated modified clutch lever, cables and gaskets etc.
