'The Legend Rides On' - the most magnificent Royal Enfield book

28th March, 2017

We have been able to obtain a limited number of the book ‘The Legend Rides On’ – now out of print (used copies demanding prices on the internet of between £80 and £150!). This lavish book, published in 2005, celebrates 50 years of development of Royal Enfield in India. The book is supplied in a slip case and is fully illustrated with superb photographs of both Indian-made and Redditch-made Royal Enfields in a wide-range of settings, of owners and their machines, and of production locations for the Indian-made Bullets. The large format – the book measures approx 11 inches wide and 12 inches high – allows full justice to be done to the magnificent photography.

The text, by Royal Enfield expert and archivist Gordon May, recounts the history and significance of Royal Enfield in India and includes interviews with owners in the UK, in India and many other countries. The first section of the book covers the UK history of the make, again with superb photographs of many Royal Enfield models produced by the factory up to the time of its final closure – starting with the 1914 V-Twins and including images of prototypes, twins, fours, four strokes and two strokes, a large selection of Bullets and beautiful images of an aristocratic looking 736cc Interceptor outside Ludlow castle.

The larger part of the book features the Indian models and their owners, with the photographs setting off the bikes and riders against the most impressive Indian landscapes.

No other book dedicated to Royal Enfields has the visual impact or extravagant quality of this production – a ‘coffee-table’ book to treasure and enjoy. When they are gone they are gone!

Order as Book11 ‘The Legend Rides On’ – at £39.95 plus postage.
