Scrambles

For the last 12 years we have been involved in Classic Scrambling initially using our 612cc engine in a slightly modified Crusader frame (The Royal Enfield Crusader was Enfields first 4 stroke unit construction engine introduced in 1956 as a 250cc). The last decade has seen a continual development program and we now have what is an extremely competitive bike eligible for Pre-60 scrambles events winning the Pre-60class of the “British Classic Scrambles Championship” in 2010 . Along the way we have developed and tested a large number of parts which are now readily available in this catalogue for use in road going models. In recent years we have developed a new lightweight frame based on the Crusader frame with modifications that allow the Bullet engine to bolt straight in whist standing up to the stresses of competition.

Royal Enfields were not known for their success in scrambling in the old days but we have done a lot to change this in recent years. People are now taking notice and we are getting enquiries for an “off the shelf” Royal Enfield Scrambler. Whilst we are not in a position to offer a complete ready to race bike, we can give you an excellent starting point with most parts including the frame available from stock. Start with a donor bike or engine and you will soon be on the way to having a fantastic time around the track whether just for fun or as a serious contender.

Why limit it to just competition? with imagination the frame could be the starting point of a very nice road bike. In the 60’s a popular conversion was to fit the Triumph twin engine in the Crusader chassis to create a “Trifield”. The performance of the Triumph engine coupled together with the lightness and handling of the Enfield chassis was a very impressive combination.
