2006 Hanbury Scramble
Sunday the 10th September 2006, the 5th round of the British Classic Scrambles Championship was held at Hanbury in Worcestershire. Although not entered in the championship, we decided to take this opportunity to resurrect our old Royal Enfield Hill Climber. We built a new engine using our 612cc performance kit, this was totally standard apart from the use of a Royal Enfield Fury “Bighead” with a 36mm Amal carburetter.
We had a new local rider, Richard White, who is well known
amongst the modern bikes, but this was his first time he had competed
in a pre 65 scramble. For its first outing we were really pleased with
its 5th, 4th and 3rd positions throughout the day.
Richard White has now been bitten by the bug and would like to compete
in the British Classic Championship in 2007. We will be competing
against some very experienced riders and well sorted fast bikes, so we
have a busy winter ahead developing and testing. Watch this space for
further news.
