I bought my C5 two years ago as a token of my father who had passed away. He'd had a very similar bike in the 50's when he was courting my mum. Some toe-rag stole it and wrote it off a few days later, in November last year. I replaced it with another battle green C5, which I'm going to collect from Haywards next week. They've added some parts from our hosts, to make it a little closer to the original WDCO style. I'm *really* pleased with the results. Now I just need to get a rear carrier made to take the p and I'll have my dream bike. Very happy man. P.S. not at all sure about the URLs for images, so apologies if this doesn't work.

Thanks papasmurf. Here are the pannier frames/bags... just need to sort a rack out to mount them too. IMG_20180512_145200

Not 100% sure about the seat. Wanted to try Lycette style seat for 40/50's style look. Tempted by a low seat that follows the line of the frame, like below. Which do we think looks best? cobra_premium_low_seat_crop

Getting there. Still not got the proper pannier/frames mounted, but like this interim arrangement IMG_20180526_211603

I know I"m talking to myself, but don't mind me, I'm just going to keep on carrying on :) Took Harry Bike hamm0ck camping for the first time last week. Lovely time. These may not be rocket-ships, but they are actually very practical bikes :) Harry_2

The transformation continues. I've got the luggage rack/pannier carrier made and fitted. I think it's looking pretty close to what I was aiming for now. I've had to replace the indicators to so that the panniers aren't positioned too widely. Harry Bike Might want to replace the forks with some shrouded ones, but that's probably a job for next year now. Just need to get the rack painted and I'm good for now. BTW, this isn't a bike for the sake of being pretty. It's a practical bike to let me go nice places and do good things. I've racked up a 1,000 miles in the last month and enjoyed them all.

Sorry - 'forks' - I must be tired. Meant rear shocks.

Great looking bike, hopefully I will see it scooting around the lanes in Cambridgeshire?

Err....other than the khaki and name badge what's WD/CO about it?

If I understand the original poster correctly, it's meant as a Euro IV tribute bike rather than a replica, though the modern bobber exhaust wrap and Goldie pattern silencer don't really suggest early 1940's-style military accessories!

Hiya, yes, exactly. Tribute not replica. Much like the Pegasus. What's WD about it? The main things are the saddle and pillion pad, which I think are both 40's era style, as well as the panniers and y-straps. I couldn't get an actual WD-pattern rear carrier / rack, because the classic obviously has a different frame and suspension. But I think the rack that has been made places the panniers in the right position for a WD-bike and from a distance has similar look/function. The wrap - yeah, not period, but it covers and ugly joint on the downpipe, and the goldie exhaust - yeah, not my choice, was on the bike when I got it. I would be really interested in any ideas for how to stay with the Euro IV function, but get a better WD look :)

Re-fit an original Euro IV exhaust, but sprayed/coated heat-resistant matt silver? Better than black, IMHO.
