| Marty, you don’t say if it is all gears or just top that jumps out. Before you start looking for expensive problems ask yourself what has changed whilst you were mud plugging? Has something occurred that prevents the gear lever moving fully, such as dried mud around the foot rests? Have you bent the right hand foot rest? I bent mine up slightly when it fell over once, and I was convinced that the gear change had been damaged. That is until I thought about it for a while, and bent the foot peg back……. Doh! If it were wear in a component I would expect a gradual onset rather than sudden failure. If it is a problem with the gearbox then a quick look at the parts book on this site suggests that all the gear selector mechanism is sandwiched between the outer and inner cover of the box, not inside with the gears. This is good news as there shouldn’t be a need for any open heart surgery to check the gear selector mechanism. Good luck. |
